Millions of viewers are familiar with their programs. Now we celebrate the creators.
At the "Big Picture 2026" conference, the Association of the Hungarian Electronic Broadcasters (MEME) officially announced the detailed concept of the Big Picture Awards television industry awards, its jury members, categories, and some additional details about the awards gala to be held on 28th January at Várkert Bazár.
The aim of the newly established Big Picture Awards is to recognize the most outstanding professionals, creators, and productions in the domestic television and streaming sector, including not only the stars on screen, but also the creative professionals working behind the scenes. By creating this award, MEME and its members wish to strengthen the prestige of the television industry, support the production of quality content, and inspire the next generation of creators through joint professional cooperation.
Award structure and categories
Any television company, streaming platform, or production company operating in Hungary that creates Hungarian-language television content during 2025 is eligible to apply for the award. The awards are decided by an independent, two-tier jury consisting of professionals representing various areas of the television industry.
In the first round of judging, a preliminary jury will compile a shortlist, and in the second round, the main jury will select the winners in each category.
The awards recognize professional achievements in 17 categories, including:
- Best director, presenter, and creative producer
- Best show, television series, reality show, or infotainment magazine
- Best cinematographer, editor, stylist, and program communication campaign
The awards gala – the highlight of the television industry
The Big Picture Awards Gala will be held on January 28, 2026, at the Várkert Bazár. The spectacular awards gala is also planned to be a meeting place for the most important players in the television and streaming industry. The gala is scheduled to be broadcast live jointly by RTL+ and TV2 Play, signaling the cooperation and shared responsibility of the domestic media sector for the future of quality television content. In addition to leading figures in the industry, creators, producers, and media personalities, representatives of the most popular television programs will also be among the guests at the gala. The aim of the event is to create an annual professional celebration for television and streaming creators.
Professional cooperation and support
MEME created the award through a joint initiative of its members, which was joined by all major domestic media service providers. The creation and implementation of the award is not only a professional but also an industry collaboration, which aims to set an example in supporting the quality and diversity of content production.
MEME President Dr. Csaba Tóth said:
"The Big Picture Awards are not just an awards ceremony for the Hungarian television industry, but a joint recognition for all those who work day in and day out to provide viewers with valuable, entertaining, and inspiring content. As the subtitle of the award says: millions of viewers know their programs – now we celebrate the creators – Let this be an outstanding, shared celebration for the entire Hungarian television industry."
