Big Picture - 2026

Big Picture 2026

A full house, inspiring presentations, and a discussion on television history: that was „Big Picture 2026”!

The future of television is being written in the present – the „Big Picture 2026” conference organized by MEME was a great success.

On November 6, MEME held it’s annual professional conference, „Big Picture 2026”, where key players in the domestic media market shared their thoughts on the future of television and streaming, the transformation of content consumption, and the latest trends in the advertising market.

During the all-day program, participants gained a comprehensive overview of the dynamics of the domestic and international media market and how competition between traditional television and digital platforms is reshaping the future of media.

The host of the day was Gábor Gundel Takács again, who led the event with his usual elegant humor and professional sensitivity.

At the conference, MEME President Dr. Csaba Tóth made a formal announcement in his opening speech about the detailed concept of the Big Picture Awards, a new television industry awards gala established by MEME.

The gala will be held on January 28, 2026, at the Várkert Bazár. Detailed information can be found at https://bigpictureawards.memeinfo.hu/ .

The opening presentation of the "Big Picture 2026" conference was given by Petra Aczél, who analyzed the cultural transformation taking place in the era of artificial intelligence and digital platforms. In her highly successful presentation, she sought answers to how television can preserve its community-building power, how it can appeal to the younger generation, and how it can remain relevant in the long term in a rapidly changing media landscape.

In his presentation, Zoltán Hajdú presented HR strategies that support the flexibility and resilience of the television workforce, as well as how the profession can offer real value to young professionals beyond the usual motivational tools.

The highlight of the day was the discussion between Péter Kolosi and Gábor Fischer, moderated by Csaba Tóth, which many believe will go down in television history as a defining moment in the history of Big Picture conferences.

The discussion brought two prominent media professionals to the table:

  • Péter Kolosi, RTL's deputy CEO and program director, who has been shaping the domestic television market for more than two decades,
  • and Gábor Fischer, program director of TV2 Group, a leading figure in Hungarian television production and content development.

The two experts' candid yet friendly exchange provided insight into how they think about the future of television, the transformation of content strategies, changing audience demands, and the impact of streaming services. The audience was able to see live how two defining perspectives—based on professional differences and common goals—came together, creating a genuine professional dialogue about the present and future of Hungarian television.

The afternoon program featured a series of roundtable discussions and market analyses, covering the latest trends in AI visualization, the business future of linear television and BVOD, and content strategy decisions that will shape the media market in the coming years.

By the end of the day, conference participants had gained a comprehensive overview of television offerings in 2026, expected market movements, and developments that will shape the future of television.

We would like to thank all participants, speakers, and partners for shaping the future of Hungarian television with us—see you next year at the MEME’s "Big Picture 2027" conference!
