Linear television is a major player in the video content consumption market. Hungarians are considered to be very significant linear TV viewers in international comparison.

At the same time, digital media poses a challenge to the position of traditional broadcasting.

Several Hungarian television broadcasters have already entered the digital space. In recent years, more and more companies have been offering streaming services to interested consumers and viewers. BVOD (Broadcaster Video on Demand, i.e., selectable content offered by broadcasters) services already offer a visible alternative for viewers looking for moving image content.

The aim of the 2025 research, commissioned by MEME with the support of NMHH, is to examine the benefits offered to viewers by the platforms of domestic television broadcasters (linear TV, BVOD), how they fit into the overall content offering, and how they can be positioned in the advertising market in order to compete as successfully as possible with global content providers and platforms.

Impetus Research Ltd. examined the above topics within the framework of a complex project tailored to the objectives.
